Audax Events 2023

Audax Kernow events are now on the calendar and open for entry. We kick off with the Falmouth Wheelers’ 50km and 100km rides on 2nd April. As usual, these start from Falmouth Cricket Club and, more importantly, return there for ample refreshments.

On 26th May we have three routes from Perranwell: 50km, 100km and 200km. The Mines and Mineral Railways on-road and off-road events are on 18th June, starting from Carharrack. Pasties and cream teas will be available as usual – online food ordering isn’t available yet, but will be set up soon. The last two Audax Kernow events, the 200km and 300km X-rated rides from Penzance, run a week later on 25th June.

There are also plenty of interesting rides organised by AUK in Devon and further afield for those willing to travel – the AUK calendar has full details and allows you to search for routes by ride distance or start locality. The Ride the Trafalgar Way event, 24th June, actually starts from the Fish Strand Quay in Falmouth, following the route taken in November 1805 to bring news of the Trafalgar naval victory and Nelson’s death to London – a 600km one-way route, but you could just ride back home afterwards.

Finally, the 20th edition of Paris-Brest-Paris, that epitome of long distance Audax riding, takes place in August 2023. Pre-registration for those able to reserve a place based on riding in 2022 starts from this month, and all those hoping to take part in August will be building up a set of qualifying (BRM) events of 200, 300, 400 and 600km from now until June.
